Artic Dreams/ performance and collective installation/ 2018

Somnis Artics

Artic Dreams, collective performance and installation. Movement: Simon Malone, Magdalena Garzón. Voices: Suria Pulido, Ksenia Opria. Video: Irene Pons, Francesca Mas. Photography, lighting, technical direction: Aleksander Skoczylas. Saturday, December 15 at 7 p.m.

Arctic Dreams is a collective performance and installation created especially for the different spaces of Can Monroig. A free and destructuring interpretation of the original piece using different supports, a work in progress, an open investigation based on a sleepless night, a blank body, a body at the limit. A body that seeks salvation but is also subject to the word, to the consciousness that does not leave, that does not cease, that proposes, that analyzes and resonates. Both an open window to suffering and its resonation in time, and a meditation on the creative process and its artificiality.
The piece incorporates movement, images, video and texts taken from dreams, conversations and personal diaries.

Simon Malone

I am 52 years old. I have no training in dance. I am interested in the body, my body as an expression rather than a representation, in terms of what it hides and what it reveals, in its potential to become, not as a vehicle for an idea or as a model of physical perfection or choreographed uniformity. Physical pain as a way of accessing the hidden memory of the body, the hidden memory of pain, the secret nectar of the body. I wonder if it is possible to see oneself from the outside, if there really is an outside. Compassion. A sick body, a deformed and scarred body. A tired body. A non-normative body. A body that has lived, that is nothing more than what it is. Without virtuosity, without fireworks. Only the firm intention of inhabiting each gesture, each movement until it overflows.
