PROJECTE KÖRPER Sexual robots Feminist reflections
Catalina Carrasco / Baal dance
Original music by Kiko Barrenengoa
Presentation on Saturday 1st September at 9.30pm at Can Monroig to close the cycle “In the courtyard of my house”, contribution €10.
“Sex robots are animatronic humanoid dolls with penetrable orifices where consumers are encouraged to regard these dolls as female surrogates (predominantly), and are marketed as ‘escorts’, ‘girlfriends’ or ‘wives’. At a time when pornography, prostitution and child exploitation are facilitated and proliferated by digital technology, making it a profitable global industry; these products further promote the objectification of the female body and as such constitute a new assault on human privacy.”

About Catalina Carrasco and Baal dance
Catalina is the artistic engine of BAAL: his restlessness, his nonconformity and his fear of boredom are his fuel.
Graduated in Contemporary Dance from the Miguel Hernández University. She has trained in classical dance and later in contemporary dance, passing through butoh and theatre, in different countries: England, Nepal… She is always curious to learn new ways of moving.
While finishing her dance studies, she began dancing on TV and in cabaret and became part of a professional company in Madrid. Later she went on to work with other companies in Barcelona, Mallorca, Santiago de Chile, Berlin and Cologne.
He is always accompanied by the compelling need to create. This led him to produce short pieces that won several competitions and in 2012 to create his own company together with Gaspar Morey.
Gaspar Morey studied physical education in Spain and earned his PhD in Biomechanics at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln (German Sports University in Cologne). He has spent most of his professional life studying human movement in the biomechanics laboratory, until he switched from scientific research to artistic research. He entered the performing arts through technology and later also as a performer. For him, there are no boundaries between the role of researcher, creator, technician or performer. Gaspar practices them all within Baal.
Can Monroig is a private and independent space managed by Robert López Hinton and Marie-Noëlle Ginard Féron, dedicated to architecture, restoration of old houses and interior design, which regularly hosts cultural events such as dance, theater, art or music.
