In 2011 the journalist Esteban Mercer Palou, After a visit to Can Monroig and referring to the decoration of the house, he wrote in the Diario de Mallorca: Their experience has led them to carry out an impressive archaeological work, worthy of Indiana Jones - I'm not exaggerating - but they have gone further. The decoration, an exercise of mastery without equal on this island (Mallorca). Perhaps in the rest of the world there is nothing similar either, it is between hooligan and terrestrial, absolutely crazy without a doubt. And yet habitable and enjoyable.
We were so excited about the comment that from that moment on we decided to name them “Hooligan furniture” to the series of graffitied furniture that we were doing… and until now.
Graffitied furniture, decorations that combine antique, vintage furniture, street photos or crucified dolls with baroque painting, virgins and saints, and all within walls with more than 700 years of history.
“Possible decorations” in any other space. We like them the ruins, the decrepit walls, the patinas, the textures, and in this context, surprise; perhaps with old fabrics, ceramics or invented furniture. In decoration, everything is possible if what you do is authentic and you believe in it.
A few days ago we read an article in the magazine AD Spain which we really liked, both for its title and its content: “Classic hooligan”A couple turned to interior designer Marion Collard to rejuvenate a Haussmannian apartment in Paris with style and character. The decorator dared to use street art with amazing results. Coincidence or not, we don't care, because we have a feeling that the interior design of Can Monroig is creating a trend, and if not, search Google for these tags: naughty interior design, naughty furniture and you will tell us.
