Workshop on self-knowledge and cultivation of presence by Cristina Avilés / June 2019

From the perspective of wisdom philosophy we will try to "experience“From a philosophical reflection in dialogue, we discover who we really are. This approach is therefore practical and consists of reaching the experience of our presence in the world in order to fully inhabit it in the present. It is through self-knowledge, an investigation of our personal philosophy, that we discover which limited beliefs and emotions we identify with, which are the ones that disconnect us from our authentic reality.

It is therefore a matter of understanding in a heartfelt way what leads us to be in a situation of attachment, of blockage, of flight and of seeing more clearly what we do not want to face. This awareness leads us to the possibility of living with more presence the moment in which we are. From this perspective, philosophy is a Art of life, being ourselves the creators of our own life. We will also investigate the main obstacles that make it difficult to live in the now, which are the imaginary traps built by the psychological self of the past and the future. Finally, we will delve into how to live the present from the notion of the non-time of the eternal now.

How will we work?

It is not a digression into philosophical theories that deal with identity from a merely intellectual and psychological perspective. It is about carrying out, after a brief philosophical theoretical exposition that is accessible to everyone, a practice of personal inquiry based on philosophical dialogue, from personal problematic situations or in aspects related to the topic that we want to delve deeper into. We will also work from philosophical texts, group dynamics and meditations, which allow us to identify the obstacles that do not allow us to be present in the now, always from the lived and felt experience of the attendees.
