Steven Munar & The Miracle Band “Break the rules” concert in Can Monroig, 2013
Steven Munar Smith began his career in the late eighties with guitarist Miguel Pérez with The Walk in Mallorca, a group influenced by Echo & The Bunnymen among others. After recording several demos, they both landed in Barcelona where they released their first self-titled album under the name of The Tea Servants for the Zaragoza label Grabaciones en el Mar. With this, they published “Police Looking After Thieves” and “Greatest Hits” in 2011.its”.
Later, they signed with Houston Party Records where they released “Higher” and “Travel West”, both receiving very good reviews from the specialized media. During this period they performed numerous times at prestigious festivals within the national arena such as Benicàssim (96/02), Festimad (97), Isladencanta (02) or Primavera Sound (03). After finishing with the Barcelona label, Steven Munar restarted his solo career after dissolving the group.
In early 2005, he formed The Lunatics, later christened The Miracle Band. Thus, “Miracle Beach” was born, recorded at El Zigurat studios by Francisco Albéniz, the soul of La Búsqueda. Following the same sound line as always with clear references to The Kinks, Bob Dylan or Nick Cave, this is perhaps his most folk-oriented LP, without abandoning his old rock and pop roots. “The Language of the Birds” was Steven Munar’s second release with The Miracle Band. Recorded in Barcelona by Marc Tena at Meteosat studios and mastered in Palma de Mallorca by Francisco Albéniz. The album was released by the Barcelona label La Produktiva Records. The same label released his new work “Break The Rules!”, a work very well received by the specialized media.
